Unite Caribbean has been commissioned to support the Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN) in Belize through the development of three biodiversity-focused business plans for community-led NGOs active in conservation and sustainable practices. The assignment combines organizational analysis, consultation, financial planning, and capacity building to strengthen the long-term financial sustainability of local conservation actors.  

The work includes an inception phase, document review, consultations and site visits, followed by financial and operational analysis of revenue streams, costs, funding gaps, risks, and growth opportunities. Based on this process, Unite Caribbean will prepare three tailored business plans with organizational goals, biodiversity-related targets, feasible revenue-generating activities, and three- to five-year cost and revenue projections. 
 
The consultancy also includes recommendations on resource mobilization, visibility, and stakeholder engagement, as well as targeted training for NGO staff and the National Biodiversity Office. An expansion guide with templates and practical tools will support replication with additional NGOs or protected areas. By linking biodiversity outcomes with stronger financial resilience, the project is designed to support more sustainable conservation action in Belize.
