The Closing the Caribbean Plastic Tap initiative is a three-year project (2023–2026) focused on addressing plastic waste leakage across five priority Caribbean countries: Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The project aims to strengthen regional action on plastic pollution through coordinated communication, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge-sharing efforts.
To support implementation, the Communications and Visibility Strategy will guide all related activities, ensuring alignment with IUCN standards and donor visibility requirements, including those of AICS/MAECI. The strategy builds on existing communications foundations and is designed to reinforce broader project objectives by improving awareness, engagement, and collaboration across key stakeholders.
Unite Caribbean will be responsible for executing the Communications and Visibility Strategy through a coordinated activity plan across all participating countries. This includes supporting communications for key events and workshops by preparing advisories, coordinating media coverage, and producing post-event summaries to ensure consistent documentation and outreach.
All communication outputs must comply with IUCN and donor visibility guidelines, ensuring proper branding and messaging across materials. Dissemination efforts will be coordinated with Ministries, schools, NGOs, and other partners, leveraging existing approved communication materials to maintain consistency and efficiency.
As part of its commitments, Unite Caribbean will deliver at least one communication and visibility activity in each project country, ensuring local-level engagement and visibility across the region. In addition, the project will strengthen regional knowledge-sharing by facilitating at least two webinars involving key stakeholders, including organisations such as OECS and CARICOM, to promote collaboration and exchange of best practices.
Overall, the assignment focuses on delivering a cohesive and compliant communication approach that enhances visibility, supports stakeholder engagement, and contributes to the broader goal of reducing plastic pollution in the Caribbean.
