Unite Caribbean has teamed up with Ernst & Young (EY) to assist the Collectivité de Saint-Martin in developing a strategy focused on the economic development of three target neighborhoods, namely Sandy-Ground, Quartier d’Orléans and Colombier. Unite Caribbean will be on the ground in Saint Martin to study the existing business landscape, map economic initiatives in the formal and informal economy, and explore the interconnections of these businesses across neighborhoods and also with their Dutch counterparts.

To achieve the objectives defined by the Collectivité de Saint-Martin, Unite Caribbean will develop an inventory and mapping of economic initiatives, an analysis of the economic and social logics and impacts of each neighborhood, and an assessment of economic needs. These activities will be developed through primary data collection efforts, including surveys and interviews with key informants. Unite Caribbean will also support EY in the development of strategies, tools and training materials.

The expected results include an inventory of the economic initiatives supported in each neighborhood; an analysis of the economic and social frameworks and their impact on the territory; a needs analysis for prospecting territorial resources and also contribution to strategy development for the target neighborhoods and to the territorial economic development strategy.
