Role of Unite Caribbean

Unite Caribbean, in partnership with Seureca, is supporting the Government of Grenada to update the financial framework for waste management. The framework will inform budget preparations and the strategic planning of solid waste management in the country. The increasing volumes and types of waste, coupled with the negative environmental impacts of plastic pollution necessitate a strategic evidence-based response to promote sustainable waste management practices. The framework will enable Grenada to align its strategic planning with international best practices and sustainability goals.

Actions of Unite Caribbean

• *Develop an economic, social & environmental impact assessment of inadequate funding for waste management
• *Lead stakeholder engagement workshops in Grenada to gather local insights
• *Co-develop the financial framework policy
• *Develop a monitoring and evaluation scheme for the updated financial framework
