Unite Caribbean has been contracted by the WWF to develop a resource mobilization strategy for WWF Wider Caribbean cooperation and the implementation of the Caribbean Marine Plan (CMP). WWF Offices in the Wider Caribbean region include WWF Guianas, WWF Dutch Caribbean, WWF Colombia, and WWF MAR. Unite Caribbean is poised to deliver on the resource mobilization aspect of this cooperative initiative, given our extensive regional network and expertise in the identification of strategic technical and financial partners which regional operations and alignment with WWF conservation goals.
The team’s role is to carry out a thorough identification of funding opportunities, partnerships and existing initiatives in harmony with the conservation targets outlined in the CMP. Specifically, the consultancy is structured in two main phases. Phase 1 centers on clarification of WWF internal structures, the CMP, global and national priorities and existing WWF work in the Caribbean. It also includes the preliminary mapping of regional conservation priorities, activities and initiatives outside of the WWF network. Based on the key findings of the previous phase, Phase 2 involves the development of the fundraising strategy, and analysis of the funding landscape, the design of the funding roadmap and preliminary donor engagement.
The primary aim for this consultancy is to equip WWF France, WWF Netherlands and other WWF Caribbean offices with a funding roadmap to pursue concrete funding opportunities and to form partnerships that align with the CMP targets and other WWF global initiatives such as the WWF 2030 Roadmap. The WWF will be provided with a stakeholder mapping, strategic analysis of funding landscape for Caribbean conservation and recommendations on the most advantageous avenues for WWF to obtain funding for collaborative initiatives. These final outputs will serve to benefit Caribbean ecosystems, namely coral reefs, mangroves and sea turtles.
