Established both in Guadeloupe (Unite Caribbean SAS) and in St. Lucia (Caribbean Ltd.), with projects offices in Barbados, French Guiana, and Trinidad, Unite Caribbean offers consultancy services and project management to public organizations and private companies that need regional technical cooperation to solve complex Caribbean development issues.


Unite Caribbean is organized as a network of in-house consultants and associated experts throughout the Caribbean, promoting Caribbean expertise across linguistic boundaries for the sustained economic and social development of the region. For the purpose of this opportunity, Unite Caribbean Ltd. (Saint Lucia) is the contracting authority.


Context


The Climate Resilience, Environment and Water and Waste department of Unite Caribbean was established in 2023 and has undertaken a number of projects mainly focused on waste management and waste-water management. However, in order to secure opportunities within the renewable energy sector, a Consultant with specific expertise in renewable energy management is required. As such, we seek an experienced renewable energy consultant to lead and support projects across the Caribbean region. This role involves conducting needs assessments, developing policy frameworks, and performing feasibility studies for renewable energy projects (e.g., solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, and hybrid systems). The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with knowledge of Caribbean energy markets, regulatory environments, and socio-economic challenges to drive the adoption of clean energy solutions.


Scope of Work


The scope of work involves:

  1. Develop a Comprehensive Market Analysis of the renewable energy sector in the Caribbean
    • *In conjunction with the Department Director, and other support staff as necessary, undertake desktop research and conduct assessments to determine the challenges and opportunities in the water and waste-water sectors in various Caribbean countries
    • *Identify priority projects within the renewable energy sectors based on the specific needs as well as the expertise available within Unite Caribbean.

    2. Seek out opportunities to projects within the renewable energy Sector

      • *Actively research prospective business opportunities and funding for the renewable energy sector of Unite Caribbean, develop and manage partnerships, both with potential clients and Caribbean high-potential providers (technical partners and companies)
      • *Carry out exploratory and fact-finding missions to provide visibility, business development and close partnerships in the water and waste-water sectors
      • *As part of a team, contribute to the development of technical proposals in response to RFQ/RFT and EOIs.

      3. Execute Projects within the Climate Resilience, Environment and Water and Waste Sectors

      • *For projects successfully acquired, development and implement action plans for the timely completion of these projects in keeping with the agreed terms of reference and the client expectations. In particular:
        • *Develop analysis plans and collect relevant data
        • *Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses required in clients’ projects
        • *Undertake surveys; design data collection tools; review, analyze and interpret responses, identify problems/issues and prepare preliminary conclusions
        • *Run focus group and undertakes outreach activities; participate in the development of training workshops, seminars, etc.; participate in and make presentations on assigned topics/activities
        • *Participate in or lead field missions, including provision of guidance to external stakeholders and drafting mission reports
        • *Structure work products and deliver as agreed with key project stakeholders on quality, cost, timeframe
        • *Present findings, recommendations, and deliverables to client representatives
      • *Perform any other duties as required

      Qualifications

      • *Graduate degree in Energy Engineering, Environmental Science, Public Policy, Economics, or a related field.
      • *Minimum 5 years’ experience in renewable energy project development, policy advisory, or energy planning.
      • *Proven experience working in the Caribbean or small island developing states (SIDS) is highly desirable.
      • *Familiarity with Caribbean energy challenges (e.g., high fossil fuel dependence, islanded grids, climate vulnerability).
      • *Strong problem-solving skills, using data management skills and analytical abilities, both quantitative and qualitative
      • *Ability to prioritize with strong planning and organizational skills
      • *Foster an efficient, innovative and team-oriented work environment
      • *Mandatory Technical Skills:
        • *Strong presentation and communication skills in English. (French, French Creole and/or Spanish would be an asset)
        • *Excellent writing and editing skills to produce reports and PowerPoints

      Contract & Remuneration

      • *Work contract, full-time
      • *Individual Contractor’s Agreement
      • *Duty station: Unite Caribbean office in Barbados, St. Lucia or Guadeloupe
      • *Short-term missions to other Caribbean countries expected up to 20% of project activities
